Attention, SPOILER!
* This article contains spoilers for the sixth chapter of ‘Ms. Wonder’.
‘SM. Marvel has officially come to an end and, after six episodes on Disney +, Kamala Khan is already a real superhero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Iman Vellani made her debut as the teenage heroine of Jersey City and, of course, we will see her again in the MCU soon. Specifically, she will be in the sequel to ‘Captain Marvel’, titled ‘The Marvels’, where Kamala will team up with Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris).
After exploring Kamala’s origins and the cultural background of her Pakistani-born family, the latest episode of ‘Ms. Marvel dives deep into superhero action to leave us some surprises that have big implications for the future of the MCU. At the height of the season, Kamala manages to keep up with the Damage Control department with the help of her friends and rescues Kamran. After the great battle, Kamala returns home, where her father inspires her to take on the alias of Ms. Marvel. As tradition dictates, ‘Ms. Marvel “has a post-credits scene, which links directly to” The Marvels “where We have a star cameo of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. But beware, it’s a little more complicated than that.

In the scene, Kamala is resting in her room when, suddenly, her bracelet starts to glow as if it is emitting a signal, after which she is pushed against her closet breaking the door. When she comes out, Kamala is no longer Kamala, but Captain Marvel herself., sporting a new dress and hairstyle. What happened? Were the bodies swapped as in “Put yourself in my place”? The creator of the series, Bisha K Alihe explains it.
It was in an interview with Variety, in which Ali corrects the reporter, who claims that Kamala has become Carol Danvers. “Kamala does not become Carol”clarifies, adding the following: “[Kamala y Carol intercambian lugares]. It would be correct. It’s an important distinction, because in the comics it’s something Kamala can do, she can change the way she looks and in the first issue of the comic she transforms into Carol Danvers. In the series she does not become Carol. The one who appears in Kamala’s room is Carol Danvers”.
In this way, ‘Ms. Marvel ‘connects directly with’ The Marvels’. Despite Larson’s cameo, Kamala and Carol haven’t officially met yet, so We will participate in this meeting in the sequel to “Captain Marvel”. And here we enter speculative territory, since we still don’t have official details on the plot of ‘The Marvels’. What we can imagine is that Captain Marvel was on a mission to space when, for some mysterious reason related to his bracelet and cosmic powers, he ends up in Kamala’s room. What could happen next is that Kamala suddenly finds herself lost in space, leading Carol to embark on a mission to bring her back to Jersey. It would be the most logical, but let’s insist, for now it’s just a theory.
“The Marvels” is directed by Nia DaCosta (“Candyman”) and will be released in theaters in a year, on July 23, 2023.
Kamala Mutant
But besides Carol Danvers ‘cameo (which we could imagine), if there was a surprise in the final episode of’ Ms. Marvel ‘that has left Marvel fans in shock is the revelation that Kamala is actually a mutant. It happens at the end of the chapter, in a scene where Bruno (Matt Lintz) explains to his best friend that he is there “something different” in her genes that it only makes the bracelet work on her, referring to it as a “mutation”all while in the background the recognizable melody of the animated series “X-Men” plays, which confirms that, in fact, Kamala is the first mutant of the Universe 616 of the UCM.
Speaking of this bombshell that completely changes Kamala’s story (both in the series and in the comics, where she is Inhuman), Ali can’t reveal too much due to the implications for the future in the MCU, but she explains how her process can: “One of the puzzles we tackled in the beginning was that her powers are inherited in the series, and the thing about inheritance is that it makes you wonder if, if so, everyone in her bloodline should have those powers. We considered. many ways to get closer and then we found a solution. I don’t know how it will fit into the overall MCU scheme. I can’t answer, and I’m lying, I just don’t know. Who knows what Kevin Feige is doing. He is a man full of mystery. This was just a perfect piece. But the fact that we were able to flesh out that MCU aspect on our show got my nerdy heart racing. “.
