Tom Cruise is at the top of his game with Top Gun: Maverick this year it grossed over $ 1 billion at the box office. It seems almost everyone who has seen the Top Gun followed, loved it! But, Mickey Rourke he’s unimpressed and clearly not a Cruise fan.
It recently appeared on Piers Morgan uncensored where he slammed Cruise as “irrelevant”. When asked about the success of Top Gun: MaverickRourke replied:
“This doesn’t mean shit to me. [Tom Cruise has] has been doing the same part for 35 years. I have no respect for that. I don’t care about money or power. I care … when I watch Al Pacino or Christopher Walken work, or the early works of De Niro and Richard Harris and Ray Winstone, he’s the kind of actor I want to be. A lot of guys who tried to stretch themselves out as actors.
Asked if Cruise is a good actor, Rourke said, “I think it’s irrelevant in my world.” To each the of him! I’ve been a longtime Cruise fan. Yes, I know he has a crazy streak in him, but I don’t care. I like his movies and he loves making films and entertaining audiences.
I worked at Paramount Pictures in the mail room while Cruise was shooting Mission: Impossible III and he’s always been a super nice guy.
I guess we’ll never see Rourke in a Tom Cruise movie! Instead, he will be working with a guy like the director Romano Polanski. Act in his next movie, The palace.
“The boy has been doing the same part of effing for 35 years … I have no respect for that.”
