Roadside Attractions and Vertical Entertainment have released the trailer for the thriller Aubrey Plaza. guilty emilyI by writer-director John Patton Ford hits theaters August 12.
Ford’s feature directorial debut follows Emily (Plaza), who grapples with student debts and is locked out of the job market due to a minor criminal record. He falls into the shadow of a “fake shopper” who buys goods with stolen credit cards provided by Youssef (Theo Ross), a handsome and charismatic middleman who is desperate for income. Faced with a series of dead-end job interviews, Emily soon finds herself seduced by the fast money and illicit thrills of black market capitalism and increasingly attracted to her mentor, Youssef. Together they hatch a plan to take their Los Angeles business to the next level.

The film was financed by Tyler Davidson’s Low Spark Films (summer kings, Shelter) with Horror Knot Productions. Produced under the Evil Hag Productions banner with Plaza, Davidson and Drew Sykes (Galveston, Soil) Kevin Flannigan, Dexter Braff, Angus Wall, Kent Kubena, Lowell Shapiro and Mike Deeley serve as executive producers for Low Spark.
