One of the big bets Netflix had for this 2022 was’La Casa de Papel: Korea ‘, the Korean remake of the successful Spanish series of the same name Created by Alex Pina. However, far from the huge popularity the platform thought this production would have, it was actually more of a failure.

Originally, not even “La Casa de Papel” was very popular when it premiered in 2017 on Antena 3 of Spanish television: two seasons were made, it was not successful and Netflix added it to its catalog. that’s where it became a streaming phenomenon. Starting in its third season, it became the big hit that is known today, but no one knew it before.

Same fate for the Korean remake of ‘La Casa de Papel’: Netflix staked everything on it to have a success in the catalog and yet it lasted only a couple of days in the top 10 of the most viewed and then disappeared. great promise that mixed South Korean fury with the Spanish phenomenon?

Netflix had its ideas very well planned: mixing two of its ingredients most successful Spanish and Korean series. That’s why after the rampage of “El Juego del Calamar”, they decided to bring Korean talent to another super popular production, which was “La Casa de Papel”. They would thus eliminate the trend of the two great phenomena of their platform, they would become a success.

Far from the dream the company had with this project, they ended up doing a rehash of ‘La Casa de Papel’ with South Korean talent and now … there is nothing original, or good, at least not beyond the argument against the economic system currently run by the two Koreas. This was the only real extra that was seen in the series and yet they didn’t achieve anything with it.

A week later I know that “La Casa de Papel: Korea” will premiere on Netflix, nobody talks about it; a very different response than the other series that the company has tried to merge with this production. But there is the great lesson of this situation: the public wants new and original content, not copies that change only with the faces in front of the screen; and besides, he wants good stories.

The future of “The House of Paper: Korea” on Netflix

Despite the fact that the series has received critical approval, the little response to its premiere casts doubt on the possibility of continuing its story with more seasons. Although the original work gives a lot of material for this to be possible, the streaming giant will have to evaluate whether it is convenient for him to continue with the project or, on the contrary, cancel it.

Right now it is too early to say whether or not Netflix will continue with ‘The Paper House: Korea’, so we will have to wait for the platform to evaluate what it can do with the dream of this success and the response from the public: say hello or keep betting on of her and save her completely.
