Nicolas Cage’s HIGHFIRE vodka-loving dragon series is in development at Paramount +

Nicolas Cagethe vodka-loving dragon series project, High fire, moved from Amazon to Parmount +. The series is based on Eoin Colfer ‘adult thriller novel and Cage will provide the voice of the main character.

History is described as being True detective-meet-Peter’s dragon, and is a “genre-bending live-action” and “gritty crime thriller with doses of magical realism.” Its central character, Highfire (Cage), is “a Flashdance-loving dragon who drinks vodka and lives an isolated existence in the Louisiana bayous.”

Once upon a time, “dragons ruled the earth and Lord Highfire ruled dragons from his nest. But this isn’t once, it’s now, and now all of Lord Highfire’s rules are his shack in Louisiana’s Honey Island Swamp. Highfire has become a mere “Vern” and, during the day, hides among alligators, watches cable TV and drinks obscene amounts of vodka to pass the time. It’s not a great life, but he’s alive to live it, and Vern is ready to do anything, even if violent, to preserve his skin. When Vern’s world collides with a human teenager named Squib, who gets caught up in some trouble while making booze for the local mob, their mutual struggle for survival gets entangled in the most unlikely of friendships.

It looks like it’s going to be an incredibly fun series to watch! It was adapted for television from Davey Holmeswho is the creator of Epix Obtain little guy TV series. The project is produced by MGM with Holmes and Cage also serving as executive producers Andrea Mittman.

I’m curious to see how this series will turn out! Sounds like a good story!
