As you’ve seen, Sony Pictures has been trying to build their own grand Marvel cinematic universe with characters from the Spider-Man side of the universe. Outside of Spiderman, so far I have not been impressed. I’m not a fan of them Poison film and Morbio it just might be one of the worst movies ever.
President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige He is reportedly still looking to help guide Sony on their Marvel projects and offers notes on all of Sony’s Marvel-related properties. He also apparently warned Sony executives not to go ahead with building a cinematic universe with Spider-Man characters. The Ankler recently reported:
“And yes, Marvel’s Kevin Feige evaluates and offers notes on Sony’s Marvel movies that don’t feature Spider-Man. Insider credits Feige for leading Sony’s approach and warning the studio not to go too far. in terms of building some larger universe in the wake of the Avengers movies. “
Well, if that’s indeed the case, it seems to me that Sony is ignoring Feige’s notes and advice. Sony’s Marvel movies are supposed to be a lot better than they are. I think the reason is that there are too many cooks in the kitchen at Sony. There are a lot of executives overseeing these films and they all have a say in what should be there. There is no clear vision. Either that, or the creative teams they have working on the films just aren’t right for the projects.
At least we have some great Spider-Man movies!
