Kamen Knight is a tokusatsu series by Toei in Japan that never really took off with an American adaptation like Super Sentai And Power Rangers. There was Masked knight at the time, but it didn’t stick. This does not mean that Kamen Knight has no fans. If you know the Toku community, you know they love it Kamen Knight. Well, scream! Factory recently announced that they are working with Toei for the release Kamen Rider Kuuga: the complete series on Blu-ray in North America. This collection includes all 49 episodes using the original Japanese masters with separate subtitle tracks, Japanese only subtitle track, and Japanese + Grongi language translation.
When a group of archaeologists discover the tomb of a legendary warrior, they unearth the belt of Kuuga, accidentally releasing an ancient race of monsters called the Grongi, bent on destroying humanity. Enter Yusuke Godai, a modern boy next door, who discovers he is telepathically connected to the mysterious stone belt. With his power of him, he transforms into the legendary warrior known as Kuuga, humanity’s only defense against the murderous Grongi monsters.
This version is in celebration of Kamen Knightturns 50 and will certainly be at the top of many people’s wish lists. You can pre-order Kuuga now from Shout! Factory and anyone who orders will receive a poster while stocks last. The Blu-ray will be released on September 20.
