Sam Raimi describes STRANGE DOCTOR “Corny” IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS Scene Kevin Feige wanted to cut

Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness it was a dark and exciting chapter in the Marvel universe. He was telling a strange and wild story with the director Sam Raimifingerprints all over the place. Anyone who is a fan of Raimi’s past work, namely his cult classics, The Wicked Dead And Army of Darknesscould feel the connection to Multiverse of madnesseven without the Bruce Campbell cameo.

One scene in particular that looked very Raimi, reminiscent of the director’s film The living and the deadwas one of Benedict Cumberbatchis Doctor Strange and Chiwetel Ejioforis Baron Mordo. The two stare down, with close-ups of their eyes. Although it was a scene that Raimi felt strongly about, she hardly made it into the movie. Head of the MCU Kevin Feige heard it may have entered the “too cheesy” category.

Raimi talked about the scene in the Doctor Strange director’s commentary (via ComicBook.com), saying:

“I think Kevin thought maybe it was a little corny, and he wanted to cut it out. But I said, ‘Please, Kevin, let me have that.’ He said, “Okay, okay. Get your gooey things. “That was very, very kind of him.”

However, not everything was saved from the editing room floor by Kevin Feige. writer Michele Waldron also revealed in the audio commentary that Multiverse of Madness was originally set to have a much darker ending.

Waldron explained:

“Strange gets trapped in this [incursion] universe. And then [Sinister Strange] turns and the third eye opens. “

I’m glad the film went the way it did. It was a lot of fun and now you can give it another watch on Disney +.
