As you know, Duffer Bros. and Netflix have been trying to develop a Stranger things spin-off series. But don’t expect the spinoff to have anything to do with the flagship series. The spinoff will be completely different and will not continue the story of any of the characters from the original series.
During a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Matt and Ross Duffer was asked about the spinoff they are developing and this is what they said about it:
“It doesn’t follow… I’ve read these rumors that there will be an Eleven spin-off, that there will be a Steve and Dustin spin-off or that it will be another issue. It’s not interesting to me because we’ve done all of this. We have spent I don’t know how many hours exploring all of this. So it’s very different. “
They went on to say the spinoff will be “1000% different” from the flagship series. So what will the connective tissue be for the spinoff? They say it’s “narrative sensibility”. If that’s the case, it seems to me Stranger things it will be like an anthological franchise.
They go on to say, “We hope to find the right person to pass the baton to as we continue to do new things,” and added that they are “really excited” about their spinoff idea, which is something not even Netflix knows about yet.
I’m curious and excited to see what kind of completely new story the spin-off series will tell.
