SPOILER attention!
* This article contains spoilers about the end of the fourth season of “Stranger Things”
The fourth season of ‘Stranger Things’ has just come to an end and we are already thinking about the great outcome of the Duffer Brothers series. We have not yet recovered from the strong emotions of the last episode, but the creators of the Netflix phenomenon are generous and are already offering juicy details on the fifth and final seasonto whet your appetite for the long wait before returning to Hawkins.
The episodes of the fourth season differed in their long duration, lasting over an hour and, in the case of the last two (premiered on July 1), 85 and 149 minutes respectively. Hence, viewers are wondering if the final installment would continue this upward trend with even longer chapters. Well, Ross and Matt Duffer cleared that doubt by advancing that last season’s episodes will probably be shorter, except the last one, which will have an extended duration like the end of the fifth.

This was revealed on Josh Horowitz’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast (via THR), where it is said that “they don’t wait “ that the chapters are so long and specify that, “The surest thing is that in the end we will do what we have done [esta temporada]that is a two and a half hour episode “. On the pace of the episodes, Matt makes it clear next season “will move fast”even if they’re not sure it will be “at 160 km per hour”. “The characters will already be on the move, they will already have a goal and a motivation”To add. “And I think it will save at least a couple of hours and make the season feel very different.”. “I’m sure the finale will be much longer. It will be in ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’ style, with 8 endings. “He concludes with a laugh.
On the other hand, the Duffers also advanced it the fifth season will take place entirely in Hawkins, after several seasons that separate the protagonists into groups in different locations in the United States and around the world. At the end of the fourth episode, all the characters return to Hawkins to deal with the consequences of their confrontation with Vecna, who has opened an apocalyptic rift between the city of Indiana and the world Upside down, leaving the city in ruins. The good thing about all of this is that in “Stranger Things 5” we will have all the characters together in the same place. It’s a return to basics, as the Duffers indicate in another recent interview with Entertainment Weekly: “We want to go back to a lot of the things we did in Season 1, to a lot of the bands and couples we had back then. There’s something nice about closing the circle.”.
And after ‘Stranger Things’?
With a huge hit as “Stranger Things,” officially Netflix’s most-watched English-language series, it’s hard to imagine the streaming platform losing one of its biggest phenomena. That’s why we’re not surprised there are already several spin-offs in development with whom the Duffer brothers intend to expand the Eleven universe and Hawkins’ gang. There are no concrete details about the series or series in progress yet, but what we know thanks to its creators is that they will not develop them, but they will hand them over to other directors.
“The idea is to pass the baton to someone else, maybe someone with a lot of talent and passion”observes Matt Duffer on the Horowitz podcast. “The idea that Ross and I are a pilot and leave the series there seems silly to me. You have to be there from start to finish and I think we have to find a partner to help us with that.”. The decision arose from the need to look for other creative opportunities after spending so many years on the parent series. Of course, the duffers will follow “very involved” into the future of franchising.
