‘Stranger Things’: the protagonist of the great death of the fourth season breaks his silence

In the final chapter, ‘A piggyback’, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and the others come up with a plan to take down Vecna in the upside-down world while Max (Sadie Sink) acts as a decoy in our dimension. The protagonists were split into multiple teams, one of which was a duo formed by Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Eddie (Joseph Quinn), tasked with distracting the Upside Down bats with a spectacular guitar solo. The instructions were clear: they just had to leave Vecna alone, they didn’t have to be a hero. But Eddie didn’t want to be the one on the run again and attacked the creatures, clearly outnumbered. When Dustin went to help him it was already too late.: Eddie had suffered too many injuries and was dying in his friend’s arms after telling him “This time I didn’t run away”.

As fans of the series continue to wipe their tears, Joseph Quinn has broken his silence in the first interviews he has given since it became known that his “Stranger Things” journey began and ended in season four. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he says the Duffer brothers didn’t tell him what was happening to his character when they told him his role was his: “They sent me a couple of emails asking if I could play the guitar and I said yes. Then they sent me the script and I imploded, I ran to buy a guitar as soon as I could and I started practicing”. He says he had a lot of fun doing the solo on Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”, as well as battling bats with the lid of a garbage can: “I was getting delusional instructions from Matt and Ross, like ‘bat! And bat! And broom! ‘. They yelled at me “bat” and I had to pretend there was a bat there. But that got me carried away the whole time. If you had zoomed in at any point during the shoot, you would have thought “it’s a very strange life, but a great life””.

Speaking of Eddie Munson’s death, the actor states: “I wrote to the Duffers intermittently during the break and yes, we are prepared. There is a beginning, a middle and an end to each character’s arc, and I’m incredibly excited by the welcome that Eddie got, the way he was received.. There is a lot of devotion to the series and the characters. I think back to characters I’ve loved growing up and I think someone out there feels the same way about a character I’ve played and it seems crazy to me. It’s rewarding and something I never expected to experience. “.

He wants to come back, whatever

In another interview with Radio Times he says he has not looked into the reactions to volume 2 and says he would be happy to return to the series in some way: “Joe Keery and I talked about ways he might come back. Maybe it could be Gaten’s imagination or something, if there was room for something a little supernatural.. But my suspicion is that Eddie did what the brothers needed from him. “. Knowing this is a long shot, he wants to point out that Eddie’s ending is “a brilliantly executed finale for a brilliantly written character”.

Speaking of Matarazzo, the actor also wanted to dedicate a few last words to his main adventure companion in the series: “He is an extraordinarily talented young man. I think he has grown a lot during the making of these seasons, and especially this one. His playful spirit, his timing … and this season we can see his depth and the depth of his humanity. . It’s extraordinary. And being around that, especially with someone so young is really exciting. I had a great time exploring all of this with him. I’m really excited to see what he will do with his career. “. Finally, in both interviews he sends a message to Eddie Munson fans: “Thanks for hosting him while he’s here.”.
