SAG-AFTRA and Netflix, which are negotiating a new contract due to the media outage, have agreed to extend the existing contract until July 31 to allow trading to continue. His current contract, known as the 2019 Netflix Deal, expired today.
“During this time, all terms and conditions of the 2019 Netflix Agreement will continue, including any waivers and provisions that may otherwise apply,” the union said in a statement. The parties will continue negotiations in a closed manner.
Three years ago, SAG-AFTRA leaders hailed the Netflix deal as “historic” because it was the union’s first overall deal directly with the streaming giant. Prior to that, Netflix had production-based deals with the Guild. Union officials said at the time, with a few exceptions, the terms followed the union’s codified articles of association and television contracts.
