Tim Allen doesn’t like ‘Lightyear’: “It has nothing to do with Buzz”

Tim Allen didn’t like ‘Lightyear’. The actor who voiced the character of Buzz in the four episodes of “Toy Story”, in various shorts and video games, is not at all impressed by what Pixar and Disney have done in this type of spin-off, if you can call it that. that’s it, because at least Allen doesn’t consider it that. In an interview with the medium Extra, the handyman from ‘A Handyman at Home’ explained that he preferred to stay out of the project because he didn’t think he had anything to do with the character, although he was there when the idea: “We talked about it many years ago, in one of the (dubbing) sessions, and I said it would be a lot of fun. But this has a completely different team that has nothing to do with the first four films.”

“Lightyear” is something like a prequel to the character that inspired the Andy doll and tells the adventure of a space ranger about whom they would make a movie and then sell toys. But for Allen, Buzz doesn’t exist without Woody: “I’m a plot guy, it looked like it was going to be a great adventure story, but from what I see it’s not a great adventure story. It’s wonderful. It just doesn’t seem to have any connection with the toy. He is not related to Buzz. There is simply no connection. I wish it had been better connected. “Indeed, Allen thought the studio was going to make a live-action film, not even another animated installment was expected.

How is the controversy?

“Lightyear” was released in theaters on June 17th. and presumably will arrive on Disney + this September. After its premiere, a tremendous controversy arose around a kiss between two women appearing in the film, although it has little or nothing to do with the main plot. In some countries, cinemas chose to put a warning to viewers they would find “gender ideology” in it, in others they asked for the censorship of “gay time”, to which Disney initially agreed, but later rectified. In any case, both Chris Evans, the new voice of Buzz, and the non-homophobic fans of the film responded with great humor (as in all these memes we collect here) and forcefully: “They will go extinct like dinosaurs”said the conservative actor who complained.
