It took only 24 hours for ‘The return of the witches 2’ to show that we do not get tired of nostalgia and that the return of the three mythical witches embodied by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, generates an unbeatable expectation.
Just one day when the trailer for said “Return of the Witches” sequel managed to accumulate 46.6 million views, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The trailer for ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ (23 million) is finished, to the Mandalorian teasers of the first two seasons (35 million each), and ‘Luca’ (28 million). Thus, not even the ‘Star Wars’ series that pulled the bandwagon with the launch of Disney + managed to arouse as much interest as the resurrection, once again, of Winifred, Sarah and Mary.
The witches will be revived on September 30 on the Disney streaming platform, a house that has opted for a story very similar to that of the original film, centered on Becca (Whitney Peak), Cassie (Lilia Buckingham) and Izzy (Belissa Escobedo), teenagers who once again endanger the children of Salem by lighting the black flame with a spell. Together with them we will see Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Hannah Waddingham, Juju Brener, Froy Gutierrez, Taylor Henderson and Nina Kitchen, in a film that also would have a musical roll number ‘I Put a Spell on You’.
The witches return … and Billy
Along with Midler, Parker and Najimy we will see Doug Jones reprise the role of Billy Butcherson, a zombie who rises from the grave thanks to a spell from Winifred; but the rest of the originals of “The Return of the Witches” have been left out. It was recently revealed that, like Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw and Thora Birch; Jason Marsden, who voiced the cat Thackery Binx in the original film, is also not involved in the sequel..
Now Larry Bagby reveals that he even tried to audition without success. Bagby, who played Ernie / Ice, one of the thugs in that early ’90s movie; he tried to enter a small role, playing the owner of a magic shop in Salem. However, she did not have the opportunity to meet the filmmakers. “I’ve never auditioned for the part, but it would have been a nice nod, he would have even been willing to play a cop or something”states in the statements to EW.
