This year marks the 25th anniversary of the historic passage of “Titanic” in cinemas around the world, and what better way to celebrate it than with a meeting between its director, James Cameron, and its protagonist, Kate Winslet. A quarter of a century later, the two are working together again on “Avatar: Sense of Water,” the long-awaited sequel to, of course, another Cameron-directed box office phenomenon, “Avatar.”

The film, which has had years of work and promises to take cinema to new technical levels, like the original, will be released in theaters in December this year. And to warm up the engines we receive new exclusive images from Empire magazine, in addition to the first one details on the character played by Winslet in the sequel. The film once again takes the British actress to the water route, albeit this time in a very different setting from that of the fateful ocean liner and with a very distant character from her Rose.

In ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ he puts himself in the skin (blue and computer generated) of a Na’vi warrior named Ronal (pronounced “roneil”), along with Tonowari (Cliff Curtis) leader of the Metkayina tribe, who lives on the surface of Pandora’s vast oceans and will play a very important role in the new story.
Winslet describes her character as “a deeply loyal and fearless leader”along the lines of other Cameron female characters such as Sarah Connor, Ripley or Neytiri herself. “She is strong, a warrior. Despite facing great danger and pregnant, she joins her people and fights for what she loves most: her family and home.”.

Avatar: Sense of Water takes place primarily in the aquatic world of Metkayina, where Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) are forced to take refuge after fleeing their home. There the conflict will occur, as, initially, the couple will not be entirely welcome in the Ronal community.
From the Atlantic to Pandora
On his reunion with Cameron more than two decades after “Titanic,” Winslet explains that the dynamic between the two has changed a lot since the 1997 film hit the box office around the world. Jim and I are completely different people now than we were 26 years ago.says the actress. “He’s calmer now and I’m definitely more hyperactive!”.
Filming “Titanic” turned Winslet into a seasoned diver and she continues to take advantage of that experience today, which was fantastic for the “Avatar” sequel. Also, the actress admits to being able to hold their breath underwater for up to “seven minutes and 14 seconds”. “The most amazing thing for me, as a middle-aged woman, was learning not only something new, but superhuman as well.”he says proudly.
“Avatar: Sense of Water” will be released in theaters on December 16.
