“I love Denis as a director”: Austin Butler is part of “Dune 2”

Warner Bros is currently developing ‘Dune 2’, the next installment of the most recent film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s book of the same name, directed by Denis Velleneuve. Among the new actresses and actors confirmed for the second part of this story is Austin Butler, who has revealed that he is delighted with the work done by the director behind this project.

In an interview with Josh Horowitz for mtv, Austin Butler talked about his participation in “Dune 2” and while he didn’t reveal much, he shared what it was like for him to work on this project, which is a remake of a movie he loved from the first time he saw it and, furthermore, a work directed by a director who admire a lot.

The actor revealed that he really loved David Lynch’s first adaptation of “Dune” in the 1980s. Also, he revealed it he greatly admires the work of Denis Villeneuve, which deals with the entire modern adaptation of this story which will consist of a minimum of three episodes; his love for the director is so great that he has come to compare him to Stanley Kubrick.

The first ‘Dune’, I loved it. Denis Velleneuve, I love him as a director; it’s like a Stanley Kubrick of our generation. I think he is fantastic and on top of that, he is a very kind and sensitive person. Working with him is a dream come true, ”she commented.

Despite having commented a little on his experience working with Denis Velleneuve in ‘Dune 2’, the actor did not provide any details about his participation in this production and even when he wanted to question a little about his character, Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, he could only say: “No comment”.

At the beginning of 2022 the first details on ‘Dune 2’ began to be revealed and among these were the names of several actors who joined the cast of this production starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. Among them were Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux and Austin Butler.

Austin Butler’s casting as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen took many by surprise, mainly because the actor has never had a big project in his entire Hollywood career. However, after the premiere of “Elvis”, where he played Elvis Presley, he conquered everyone and, as such, raised expectations for his participation in “Dune”.

Now, many are looking forward to knowing what the interpretation of Austin Butler in “Dune 2” as Freyd-Rautha Harkonnen, who is known to be the main antagonist of this installment, inheriting the reign of his uncle Vladimir Harkonnen; and therefore he is the number one enemy of Paul Atreides and Chani, the characters of Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya.
