After the release of “Your Name”, the most successful anime film of all time, director Makoto Shinkai gained worldwide notoriety. Now, the Japanese creator is already preparing the launch of his new work, ‘Suzume no Tojimari’, which will also be released in Latin American cinemas.

Even for those who aren’t fans of anime movies, Makoto Shinkai is a name that the global film industry has recognized for works like “Your Name”, “Time With You” or “The Garden of Words”. And at the latest edition of the Cannes Film Festival, Crunchyroll has announced that it will distribute ‘Suzume no Tojimari’, in Latin America and other regions.

Currently, ‘Suzume no Tojimari’ will premiere on November 11 this year in Japan. While outside Asia, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures will be tasked with bringing the anime film to all regions, though in Latin America it will do so until early 2023, with no confirmed release date at the moment.

It is expected that the first of ‘Suzume no Tojimari’ be in the first quarter of 2023, with the reveal of the release date coming in the coming months. Also, no details were given as to whether it would come with a Latin or Spanish dub, but as Crunchyroll has opted for its adaptation in each region, it is likely that it will come with Spanish voices.

What is Makoto Shinkai’s ‘Suzume no Tojimari’ about?

Advances the first official synopsis of ‘Suzume no Tojimari’, revealed by Crunchyroll: “It’s a story about the coming of age of its 17-year-old protagonist, Suzume, set in various disaster-stricken locations across Japan, where she has to close doors causing devastation.

In the story, Suzume is a girl who lives in the quiet town of Kyushu, in southeastern Japan, when she meets a boy looking for a door in the middle of some ruins. This place attracts the girl with her power, who by opening the knob unleashes destruction, and now she must close all the portals to avoid further disasters.

There is currently no official translation for ‘Suzume no Tojimari’, (something like ‘Suzume the one who closes the doors) but is expected to be revealed in the coming months, along with the release date of director Makoto Shinkai’s next film for Latin America. and other regions.
