Every year, even every month, a new horror movie comes out which is said to be the one that got everyone out of the room, caused blackouts and whatnot. However, many of those urban legends are real with these tapes, which were the most controversial at the time, and were even banned or even illegal.
everybody knowsThe exorcist’ one of the best horror movies ever, and one of the few who has managed to have an Academy Award. Well, even the story of William Friedkin is not sure, since the Catholic Church has accused that there were subliminal messages in the plot and even that the film was possessed by the devil. But nothing compares to the next tapes on the list.
Salò or the 120 days of Sodom
One of the most followed stories on the subject is the one that surrounds the film by Pier Paolo Passolini, released in 1975, and based on the works of one of the most controversial authors in history, the Marquis de Sade. Not even in 50 years Netflix or any other streaming platform would dare to include “Saló or the 120 days of Sodom” in its catalog.
The story of ‘Saló or the 120 days of Sodom’ tells the story of some Italian fascists who kidnap teenagers to torture and attack them in every possible way. Although Passolini claimed it was a criticism of the powerful, the film was banned in several countries and its director was taken to court.
A Serbian film
Another of the most popular on this topic is’A Serbian film’, a gory movie, almost “tobacco”, that his goal was to be a parody of Serbian cinema. Directed by Srdjan Spasojevic, this film marked the beginning of his career and also a shower of criticism for the director, who is said to have made one of the most reprehensible films in history.
The story follows Milos, an adult movie star, who starts a new project, unaware that it is the documentation of violent crimes. As expected, the horror film was banned in several countries, under investigation in Serbia, for its high graphic content.
Cannibal Holocaust
But if it is one of the the most famous horror movies of all time’Cannibal Holocaust’has a place on the throne of those who have done everything to be there. A fictional documentary directed by Ruggero Deodato where the special effects were so realistic that he had to go to court to prove he was not a killer, for all the violent acts in the film.
