The Aztec and Mayan culture within the UCM

While it is not a given that this character in the “Thor: Love and Thunder” trailer is an Aztec or Mayan god, his appearance and resemblance to these deities have piqued the interest of these cultures within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Until now, there were no signs that the deities of these cultures could appear within the MCU, but it was rumored that it could be something that would happen sooner or later. The truth is that it was thought that it could happen up until “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, since one of his protagonists, Tenoch Huerta, had revealed that he was inspired by the Mayan culture to bring his character Namor to life.

Since then, intrigues have arisen as to what Namor would have been like in the story of the “Black Panther” sequel, but unfortunately, no progress has been made in that regard. The truth is that after the Mexican actor revealed that he was inspired by Mayan culture for his character, many believe that what was seen in the trailer for “Thor: Love and Thunder” could really refer to the Mayan gods. or to the Aztecs.

For now, Marvel hasn’t commented on the matter and it’s possible audiences will have to wait for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ to hit theaters on July 7 so they can finally uncover the truth behind the feathered character seen in the movie’s trailer.
