In the audio commentary for the digital output of Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madnessdirector Sam Raimi shares a lot of interesting information about the film. One of the most intriguing things she shared was an alternate opening for the film, which would feature Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) confronts Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). It didn’t end well for Mordo.
Raimi explains that Scarlet Witch “was killed [Mordo] and he cut off his head “and” introduced him to Strange in a later scene. “Damn … it’s dark and pretty messed up. The movie was pretty dark already, but it’s not hard to see why this scene ultimately isn’t. the final cut of the film has arrived.
But, at the same time, Scarlet Witch brutally slaughters Illuminati members. I guess Mordo’s beheading and introducing him to Dr. Strange overstepped the line.
