‘Smile’: First spooky trailer for Paramount’s new horror film

Paramount is in a moment of grace with her “Top Gun: Maverick”, which became the highest-grossing film of the year in the United States, surpassing Marvel and its “Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness”. Now, the production company has opted for terror with its new film, “Smile”, which had shown its first trailer in theaters. However, for those who haven’t seen it yet, there is nothing to worry about. Paramount has officially released it and we can already take an in-depth look at it.

Dr. Rose Cotter witnesses a chilling incident with one of her patients and from that moment begins to experience strange things in her life. In the trailer, we see how this pivotal story-triggering event unfolds in the doctor’s office. A patient in a strange condition comes to her and, desperate, tells her that he is seeing things that no one else can see. However, she freaks out and, with a terrifying smile on her face, commits suicide. After that, Rose tries to find answers not only to what happened, but to everything that begins to happen to her from then on.

The film was written and directed by Parker Finn, a newcomer to the industry, and is an adaptation of his short film ‘Laura Hasn’t Slept’. Producers include Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, and Robert Salerno. Adam Fishbach (“Love, Victor”, “Narcos”) is the executive producer. Secondly, the cast is led by Sosie Bacon (“13 Reasons Why”) as Dr. Rose Cotter, which is accompanied by a supporting cast of Jessie T. Usher (“The Boys”), Kyle Gallner (“Scream”), Robin Weigert (“Synecdoche, New York”), Caitlin Stasey, Kal Penn and Rob Morgan.

death smiles at you

Horror movies have had their good and bad streaks, but there has always been room for new ideas, as in the case of “Black Phone”, which will be released on June 24th. ‘Smile’ might remind you of ‘Truth or Dare’, of 2018, because they use a very similar resource: that of smiles. However, the storyline will have nothing to do with it (and hopefully it will be better received by critics). The trailer puts us in the context of a true horror thriller and ends with a scene that makes your hair stand on end.

“Smile” has its release date set for September 30 this year.
