According to director Baz Luhrmann, his latest biography is a longer version of Elvis.
Luhrmann said of the film: radio programs“So, I actually have a four-hour version.” In the interview, he mentioned that there were additional scenes he wanted to add, but due to time constraints, the director had to settle for the 2:39 version.
“I want to rely more on other issues,” Luhrmann continued. “There’s more. I mean, I have a lot to pull off, like my relationship with the band. [that] Below – and very interesting how Colonel [Elvis’ manager Tom Parker, played by Tom Hanks] He’ll set you free.” The longer version features more of the singer’s relationship with his first girlfriend, Dix, and the Jailhouse Rock song.
Luhrmann wanted to include other episodes from Presley’s life in the film. “Whatever happens, start doing something empty, for example, come to see Nixon,” said the Moulin Rouge director. “I’ve been keeping it there for a while, but there comes a time when you can’t do everything, so I just tried to follow the spirit of the character.”
He also goes on to explain why he didn’t choose Harry Styles for the role of Elvis. “Harry is a really talented actor,” he said.Fitz and WippaDigital audio file. “I would work on something with him. . . But Harry’s real problem is that he’s Harry Styles. It’s already an icon.”
