Stranger things not only will it finally return to our screens this holiday season, but it will also conclude the story that began nine years ago with the disappearance of Will Byers in the woods of Hawkins, Indiana.

It was on that fateful night that we met Eleven and saw her past unfold over the seasons as we watched her and her friends-turned-family battle monsters and evil entities from the Upside Down.

No, we will see the story conclude, and the show’s creators have assured fans that all loose ends will be tied up, including those of the evil creatures.

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Stranger things creators The Duffer Brothers talked about the scope and scale of this season and explained that we’ll see some crazy action, including two episodes completely dedicated to otherworldly monsters.

“Now that we’re in the final season, we don’t have to hold anything back,” Matt explained. “We didn’t want to tie everything together into one perfect arc, but I think we’ll answer most questions and resolve each story arc,” Ross promises. “It was our intention to write a definitive ending to this story.”

Expect bigger, bolder (and yes, stranger) things in these eight episodes. “When we pitched it to Netflix, we honestly thought the scale would be about on par with season four,” smiles Matt. “But, uh… that turned out to be a lie.”

The brothers anticipate huge battles that will “evoke the same feeling” as game of Thrones‘The Battle of the Bastards. “Episodes 4 and 8 are just monsters,” Matt beams. The fourth installment is “Sorcerer,” described by the duo as “the logistically craziest shot of our lives.”

I just rewatched the show with my family, and everyone is up to speed and ready for what looks to be the biggest and best season yet. I can’t wait to see how this series ends.

Stranger things season 5 will release its first four episodes on Thanksgiving, episodes 5-7 on Christmas, and the finale on New Year’s Eve.
