Vertical released the first teaser for Daisy RidleyThe next Horror thriller We bury the deadwhich is set in the aftermath of a catastrophic military experiment in Tasmania.
The film follows Ava (Ridley), a woman looking for her husband who died among the wrecks of a deadly outbreak. But the corpses don’t remain for a long time.
While Ava joins a “body recovery unit” in the hope of finding answers, its mission quickly transforms into a struggle for survival when the dead get up not only to wander but to hunt.
The official synopsis reads: “We buried the dead is a compelling and emotional thriller set after a military experiment decim the people of Tasmania. Daisy Ridley recites as Ava, a desperate woman who joins a unit of recovery of the body” in the hope of finding her husband alive.
“Ava’s research takes a chilling turning point, however, when the corpses he is buried starting to show signs of life … while traveling in the south of Tasmania in search of his husband, Ava is forced to confront the non -dead – and make peace with his unfinished activity.”
The film also reads Brenton Thwaites, Matt Whelan, Chloe Hurst, Kym JacksonAND Mark Coles Smith. Sxsw ‘critics praised the film for bringing a new advantage to the Zombi genre, with an initial review that describes it how to deliver “some explosions of authentic fears in the process and a sense of the scale that induces fear”.
Directed by the genre director Zak Hilditch, known for These last hours and his sTephen King adaptation 1922He has constantly carved out a reputation for the creation of desolate but emotional thriller. With We Bury the DeadIt seems that it is completely leaning against horror, offering a film that blends raw human despair with the terror of an unadvision.
The teaser does not give much, but it is enough to leave a disturbing impression. The atmosphere is disturbing, Ridley seems fully engaged in the emotional and physical intensity of the role and the images suggest that this will be more than a simple thriller of zombies. It seems intimate, personal and terrifying.
Vertical plans to bring we will bury the dead to select US cinemas on January 2, 2026. This seems to be a hellish tour.
