HBO released a compelling trailer for the documentary The solution of Alabamafrom Jinx AND The Jinx: second part director Andrew Jarecki AND Charlotte Kaufmanmanufacturer of The Jinx: second part. The DOC presents shocking movies, recorded on cell phones of smugglers, in the primons system of the Alabama state.
It shows the guards who presumably submit the prisoners to terrible jokes and brutal abuses and care who presumably cost at least one prisoner – Steven Davis – his life.
The synopsis recites: “In 2019, the filmmakers visit a prison of Alabama to film a meeting of awakening. Outside the camera, imprisoned men whisper a message: terrible things are happening here and secrets are kept. This has affected an immersive six -year investigation to discover the reality behind the walls of one of the most fatal prison systems in the nation.
Through unprecedented direct access and videos shot on cell phones of smuggling, the filmmakers learn from men within a suspicious and violent death. The story takes place in real time, revealing that it is not an isolated accident and that the official version appears far from the truth.
What follows is a shocking story of brutality, corruption and a collapse system. While men fight for their survival, they undertake a resistance campaign, against all forecasts. “
The solution of Alabama He was previewed at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
“The prisons were authorized to run essentially not monitored,” Jarecki said to Deadline in Sundance. “There is no control on the behavior of the guards or on the ability to provide any type of basic level of human treatment for people sick of mind or people who are troubled or only people who are vulnerable because it is an environment in which resources are so scarce.”
