Tom Hardy explains how he convinced Christopher Nolan on his only ruined voice for the dark knight ress

When The dark knight stands Hit in Theatres in 2012, one of the most discussed elements of the film was Tom HardyUnforgettable performance like Bane.

Beyond the physical transformation, it was that strange, commander and immediately recognizable voice that left the audience divided but fascinated. Now, an older interview is taking up and shedding light on how Hardy has emitted the unique sound of the character and as he convinced Christopher Nolan to run with it.

In a 2021 wired interview that is doing the tour again, Hardy has broken his thought process and revealed the unlikely source of inspiration.

“In reality it was a really interesting choice that Chris made, Chris Nolan. Bane quintesiale is Latinx of origin of a character, and I don’t.

“So I looked at the concept of Latin and found a character, a man named Bartley Gorman, who is a Romans … and a naked fighter and a boxer.”

Hardy has therefore shown that Gorman spoke with a voice very similar to his ruin. The actor recalled that he launched two very different options in Nolan.

“I was like ‘it’s fantastic.’ I showed Chris, I said: ‘Chris, we can travel a sort of path of Arch Darth Vader, straight voice and neutral tones.

“But we could be laughed out of the park, it could be something we will regret, but in the end it is your choice.” [He said] “No, I think we’re going.” And that was that. We played it, we made it a little more fluid, and now people laugh. “

At the time of release, fans were divided. Some found the voice of Bane strange or even distracted, while others felt that added a chilling and otherworldly quality to the bad. But more than a decade later, Hardy’s Choice cemented himself as part of the character’s inheritance.

Whether people quote parody lines or remember Bane as one of Batman’s most unique bad guys on the screen, Hardy’s decision and Nolan’s trust helped create a performance that continues to resonate.
