“I just wrapped up the pilot on Buffy The Vampire’s new Slayer series, which is set 25 years later,” Zhao revealed in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “The fandom is so special for me and I am enthusiastic about how it will go into the world.”
If the series is previewed on Hulu in 2026 as expected, it will mark 23 years since the original show ended in 2003. That time sequence aligns perfectly with the contemporary setting of the awakening.
