Alien: Earth Creator explains Wendy’s connection with the Xenomorph in episode 4: can it really control them?

In episode 4 of Alien: earthsomething wild happens when Sydney ChandlerWendy shares a moment with a xenomorphic that suggests that it could be able to communicate or even control the creature.

But is that what is really going on? According to the creator of the series Noah HawleyNot exactly.

The FX series, which marks the first live-action ever Alien TV show takes place two years before the events of Alien (1979) and follows a new story set in the terrifying universe for the first time he gave birth to from Ridley Scott.

Wendy is a key player of this story, a human consciousness transferred to a synthetic body, making it a unique hybrid. In episode 4, things take a strange turning point when it seems to form a connection with a xenomorphic.

Noah Hawley recently interrupted him, referring to a moment from Aliens (1986) which inspired this plot. “So the Queen somehow communicates to these drones to retire and do it. At that moment, you learn so much on these creatures,” Hawley said to Decider.

“Nothing is accidental for a child, right? You know, everything seems significant,” explained Hawley. “There is a moment in the fourth hour when it is like, ‘they chose me.’ Right?

It is not so much that she commands them, but rather than understanding them. Hawley suggests that this connection is more emotional than telepathic, observing that Wendy’s infantile mind gives her a certain empathy towards the Xenomorphs.

“He is mentally a child,” he said, also comparing his perspective with that of his daughter, who chose vegetarianism at the age of nine years for compassion.

So, is Wendy the whisper of Xenomorph? Not exactly. But Alien: earth He is clearly digging into a fresh and unexpected territory, exploring what happens when synthetic evolution meets extraterrestrial horror.
