Man of Steel David S. Goyer the writer shares his honest thoughts on James Gunn’s Superman

David S. GoyerThe writer behind 2013 Steel manhe shared his thoughts on James GunnNew Superman Film, and it turns out that he is a big fan of the new approach to the iconic hero DC.

Goyer is not foreign to the DC universe. Has co-scored Batman begins and contributed to the stories for The dark knight AND The dark knight stands.

He later collaborated Zack Snyder ON Steel man AND Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. His curriculum also includes Marvel projects such as the Lama trilogy e Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeancehe even direct Blade: Trinity.

Speaking with CinemaBlend while promoting The sandmanGoyer was asked of Gunn’s optimistic grip SupermanWhich is a clear contrast with the darker and more tone tone on the ground that he helped to create in the DCEU, and loved him.

“I really liked. People always assume that, since I did the dark knight, I wouldn’t like the Batman, but I really liked. Each generation gets the superman they need.

“It looked like the pendulum with Steel manObviously, it was a much darker version, and we are in a very different place, and I only love the slogan that “kindness is punk rock”. “

Goyer also praised the cast of the film and the bold creative choices of Gunn.

“I think that [David] Corenswet is incredibly attractive. I never thought of using Krypto and Krypto was delicious. And then I think the boy who stole the show was Mr. Terrific, that Geoff Johns and I basically transformed into a real character in the Justice Society. “

“So I was electrified, I thought that Mr. Terrific was fantastic. Metamorpho, the same. I love seeing a live action metamorpho, and those are the type of things with which James Gunn can get by, and God bless him because I love all those strange eccentric dc tertiary characters. I really had fun and I really had fun cheering for it, so I am happy.”

Gunn’s Superman He has been embraced by critics and fans for his tone full of hope, even if he is facing challenges to the Botteghino d’Oltremare. Gunn himself recognized the problem in a recent interview:

“It also affects the things that we have a certain amount of anti-American feeling all over the world at the moment. It is not really helping us. So I think it’s just a matter of letting something grow up. But once again, for us, it was all a total victory.”

He added that this film is only the beginning of something bigger:

“Making the film out and being something that has been embraced by people everywhere – this is only the seed of the tree that Peter [Safran] And I have watered over the past three years. So in order to start it so positively it was incredibly overwhelming. “

Despite obstacles to the box office, Superman He is ready to act as a base for the DCU of Gunn, following the turbulent final years of the DCEU. Fans are enthusiastic about what will come later.

What do you think of Goyer’s comments? Do you like the new approach of hope to Superman or do you miss the darkest and more meditobond version?
