First videos dropped the first trailer for a new interpretation War of the WorldsAnd this time it is an experience of films found by ScreenLife.
Directed by Rich Lee and produced by Timur Bekmambetov (Research, Without friendship), this adaptation exchanges huge tripods for a story told entirely through the screens.
The film is the protagonist Ice cube Like Will Radford, a computer security analyst of national security, whose life turns upside down when it affects an alien invasion. With surveillance feed, video calls and social media that guide the narrative, the film dives into privacy themes, data and control in a world where everything is monitored.
The official synopsis reads: “Will Radford (Ice Cube), one of the best computer security analysts for national security of the United States, spends his days by monitoring potential threats to national security through a mass surveillance program, until an attack of an unknown entity leads him to wonder if the government has hidden something important from him … and the rest of the world.”
Next to Cube, the cast includes Eva Longoria, Clark Gregg, Andrea Savage, Henry Hunter Hall, IMAN BENSON, Devon BostickAND Michael O’Neill.
It is a modern lap Hg Wells’ iconic novel of 1897, but instead of heat rays and tripods, these aliens feed our data.
This project marks the debut with Rich Lee’s direction after years of music videos and TV episodes (Unlimited, Society). While the concept is intriguing and clearly aims AA District 9-Tyle atmosphere on the ground, the first reactions have been mixed.
