James Gunn He has never been shy in the injection of irreverent humor in his films. Guardians of the galaxy AND Suicide I am proof of this. But when it comes toSupermanThe tone is a little different.
The man of steel is not a rebel or an anti -heroe; It is the symbol of hope of DC. So, while Gunn still brings his style of wit and the direction, it is not shocking to hear a joke NSFW has obtained the ax before the release of the film.
The cut gag did not come from Superman himself, but from one of his new allies. According to x user @vieweraranon, the joke appeared during an important action sequence in which Superman (David Corenswet) Fight a Kaiju size monster unleashed by Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hault).
The struggle is a great show and it is also where the gang of justice joins the fun: Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabella Merced) and Mister Terrific (EDI Gathegi).
The heroes come together to drop the beast, even if Superman insists to avoid killing the creature. Subsequently, things become carefree, at least in the original cut, when Guy launched this NSFW in over: line:
Therefore, the canceled #Superman joke I hope I have not been hyper -fished. After the Kaiju was killed and Superman says he would like to be able to take him to a zoo, this was the original exchange:
Guy: friend, don’t be such a pussy.
Superman: Hey, there are children around!
Guy: that’s why I said no !!– Vievereranon (@Vieweranon) 13 July 2025
While according to what reported, the exchange has laughing, Gunn decided that he crossed the line. The reason? Children. Not only are there children in the scene that celebrate the heroes, but the film itself is a PG-13 family event. Pushing Guy Gardner’s “adorable” “adorable” person could easily overturn “inappropriate for the world of Superman”.
Interestingly, Gunn has not canceled the whole edge of the script. A surviving joke … After Lois roasted Guy’s haircut in the Hall of Justice, he recovers with: “384 women would say that you are wrong!” It is brazen, rowing and a little coarse, but quite vague to slide under the radar of younger spectators.
Cut or not, this does not mean Superman It is without humor. The film is full of Gunn’s irreverent style, just a little more refined than its ray projects R. The characters still burst, Metropolis feels alive and the arrogant green lantern of Nathan Filion and the Serio Superman of Corenswet rebound perfectly.
