Pedro Pascal Brainiac is going to everything as Reed Richards in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First StepsBut it turns out that his vision for the character was much more specific than the era than Marvel expected.
In a recent interview by Vanity Fair, Pascal revealed that he had tried to give Reed a classic mid -century touch, up to a transatlantic accent. Given the alternative setting of the film of the 60s, it had perfectly sense for him. He explained:
“They had to continue to pull me back from a type of speech by Mid-Atlantic, from the early 60s. They had a dialect coach who would help us do that type of dialect. And I took it so well … they were like,” you speak more like yourself. “”
Pascal did not let the idea fall exactly during the night. He was deep in the head space. He added:
“I had difficulty doing it because I was so in the era, that for me it was something to enter so that it is different from what we saw before. I think what they created is something that we have not seen.”
They should have let Pascal run with it! This could have added an interesting detail. Regardless of this, it is combined with the film by Vanessa Kirby Like his Storm, Joseph Quinn Like Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach Like Ben Grimm, Ralph Inesion like Galactus, e Julia Garner as a silver surfist.
With Wandavision‘S Matt Shakman direct and Pascal clearly invested in giving Reed Richards its retro flavor, The Fantastic Four: First Steps It promises to be something distinct in the MCU.
“According to the vibrant background of a retro world inspired by the 1960s, The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces the first Marvel-Reed Richards family/Mister Fantastic, his Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ben Grimm/The Thing-How face their most phalloid challenge still.
“Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend the earth from a ravenous god called Galactus (Ralph Inesion) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus plans to devour the entire planet and everyone wasn’t bad enough, suddenly becomes very personal. “
