After more than a decade from the grid, Jeff Bridges He is officially returning to Kevin Flynn Tron: AresAnd while fans saw Flynn apparently meet his end Tron: LegacyBridges says that there is more in history and in the digital world of TronDeath is not exactly definitive.
Speaking with Empire, Bridges admitted that he was surprised as the fans to be recalled:
“This is the grid. The entire digital universe is everything ready. It’s all possible in that place. He has discovered that I still have a sort of conscience.”
It is a cryptic suggestion, but aligns with the flexion of the franchise of physical rules in favor of the philosophical ones.
If you remember InheritanceFlynn has sacrificed himself by combining with his creation rogue clu to destroy him. It seemed a permanent sending. But Bridges makes fun of the door has never closed:
“The new shit came to light.”
I can’t help but read his quotes and not have the voice of the guy in my head!
In addition to the logistics of Flynn’s return, Bridges also spoke to the deepest evolution of his character. Flynn, once obsessed with the achievement of digital perfection, is now struggling with the limits of that mentality.
“As human beings, we are looking for perfection. And sometimes we miss the entire point of the thing: the idea of the journey is the destination.”
It will be interesting to see how it plays in the new story. Tron: Ares was directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: dead men tell no storytelling), and focuses on a new program called Aresplayed by Jared Letowhich crosses the grid in the real world. Bridges’ return adds a Legacy thread to this new narrative, which also reads Greta Lee, Evan PetersAND Gillian Anderson.
This will mark Bridges of Bridges playing Flynn, having originated the role in 1982. Ares seems to be destined to continue the philosophical through the series, only this time with a larger and strangest touch.
