James Gunn It continues to clarify that in the new DCU, the quality takes the command, no exception, no shortcut.
During a recent chat with omelete, Gunn explained why Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow It is officially the second film that is published, immediately after Superman Fly to cinemas. It is not because of a large strategy of connected universe, it is because the screenplay tears.
“I didn’t necessarily know that Supergirl would be the second film we would make, but Ana [Nogueira] He wrote an incredible script and then we took on an incredible director. We will make this movie after Superman because it was the best option. “
The film is the protagonist Milly Alcock like Kara Danvers and will be directed by Craig Gillespie (Me, Tonya, Cruella). The story follows Kara while traveling through the stars on a mission of revenge, tracing the murderer of a girl’s father, a kind of western cosmic, with Gunn added:
“Other films have been written, but they have not been good at this. So we will continue to go on. Everything must be good. The quality comes first in every project we do. And this is more important than to say a great mega-narrative.”
This attention to the narration on the show is not just talking. Gunn previously admitted that he had recently closed a completely green project because the script was not strong enough, even if all the others were ready to launch cameras.
“We just killed a project. Everyone wanted to make the film. He was illuminated, ready to leave. The script was not ready. And I couldn’t make a film in which the screenplay was not going well.”
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Lands in cinemas on June 26, 2026 and if Gunn’s instincts are right, this could be the surprise heart of the new DCU.
