The Galaxy map of Star Wars, wonderful and enormous is the type of wonder geek that reminds us how big this universe is

Star Wars The universe sometimes may seem surprisingly small. Recent stories often narrow on the same handful of planets and people. But from time to time, something comes from that vision of the tunnel and today is a giant and updated map of the entire Star Wars galaxy.

The official Star Wars website has just launched a map of semi-interactive galaxy just expanded, building the version originally created for the 2009 reference book Star Wars: The Essential Atlas.

The latter iteration includes offices of the recent canon such as Andor‘S NARKINA 5, The bad lotPabu, and even reaches the deepest corners of the tradition with planets of the Thrawn novels by Timothy Zahn and the mysterious ascent who knows.

It comes with a complete index of star systems, each labeled with its coordinates, sector and region of the grid. For fans of table role -playing games, world manufacturers, Fanfic writers or simply obsessive pieces of the time sequence, it is a gold mine. As the official website says:

“The Star Wars galaxy contains billions of stars and hosts trillion of beings that live on millions of worlds governed during the millennia of galactic history by the Republic, the Empire and the New Republic. It is the setting for countless stories of good and wickedness, told in the Star Wars films, TV programs, video games, books, comics and more.”

The site also encourages fans to explore and return:

“This page, originally created as an online partner for the 2009 reference book Star Wars: The Essential Atlas, collects key maps and documents of interest for the students of the Galactic cartography. Add I added and check the updates from the Galaxy Far, far away!”

There is something a little hypnotic in just fixing the zoom. All those ranks of hyperspazio cross sectors that border on other sectors, names of planets floating in every direction, reminds you that this galaxy is a galaxy. Tatooine, a way out on the edge, is really far from the deep nucleus as Luke said he felt.

It also relaxes part of the emotional weight behind the stories. Think about the Nemik Manifesto from Andor. The words of that little rebel, scribbled on the edge of nowhere, reached Coruscant in some way, Yavin IV and the most distant systems.

It also deepens the way we understand the strength. The idea that connects all living beings becomes literal when you look at this map and imagines every tip of light that represents a world full of life, all linked together in that invisible energy field.

Sometimes, it takes something geek and apparently simple as a map to remember why Star Wars works. They are not only the characters or space battles, it is the pure scale of everything. The freedom to tell any type of story, in any corner of an incredibly large universe. This map is a tool. But it is also a reminder of what makes Star Wars so special.

You can verify it yourself on the official Star Wars website and start planning your galactic journey or simply losing you in the possibilities.
