After turning Castlevania In one of the most acclaimed animated series of Netflix and landed a second season for his next Devil May Cry Adaptation, dease manufacturer ADI SHANKAR Now he has set his eyes on another iconic piece of game history Duke Nukem.
In a recent interview with Esquire, Shankar has randomly dropped the news. “I bought rights Duke Nukem. Not the game rights, but I bought it from Gearbox. “No great fanfare in the studio, no company announcement, just in a classic Shankar style.
Obviously, Duke Nukem He took a difficult tour by trying to jump to Hollywood. Over the years several failed attempts have been made, but Shankar thinks he knows why he has never worked and because he will do it now.
“Duke Nukem cannot be made by a company because when a company produces Duke Nukem, it is no longer Duke Nukem. I am not going to have anyone who tells me what to do on this.”
This type of creative independence is what made Shankar’s work stand out. It does not aim to disinfect or rename Duke. He wants to embrace his chaos:
“It’s an average finger for everyone. When Duke Nukem has exploded, a pile of people sat trying to turn it into a brand, when it’s just an average finger.”
A bombing and politically incorrect anti -hero coupled with a director who thrives to subvert the expectations. With Shankar at the helm under his banner of the Bootleg universe, it seems that we will have something that does not puncture or addresses the notes in the safe studio.
His has a passion to push the boundaries in adult animation. Beyond Castlevania AND Devil May CryShankar’s digital fingerprints are on Netflix The Guardians of Justice (he will save you!) AND Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. What binds all these projects together is a commitment to recover the wild side of American animation.
“I grew up with cartoons on Saturday rich in action. The cartoons on Saturday morning American were sick. I didn’t even live in America and I looked at them!
“They made me want to be here. But they were inscribed by the transmission standards and I wondered what these stories would become if they were not held back.”
Now, he is answering this question alone, describing his creative mission as “[building] Something new rooted in the narration of American action. “He adds:
“This genre needs a name, because it is not an anime. It is something that lives between cartoons on Saturday morning, prestigious television and cinema with R. classification”
Whatever the name you earn, in the end there is no doubt who drives the accusation. With Duke Nukem Blocked and loaded in his arsenal, Shankar’s universe has just remained a little more unbridled, and I am excited to see what he does with this.
There was a Duke Nukem films that was announced three years ago by the legendary entertainment and the Cobra Kai Team of the series, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz AND Hayden SchlossbergBut do I guess it’s no longer happening?
