The trailer for Evil foreverthe second half of Jon M. ChuThe film adaptation of Broadway’s beloved musical has been officially abandoned. Next to a new poster, we are taking a look at a much more intense and emotionally charged continuation of the history of Elphaba and Glinda.
If the first evil film concerned the discovery of who you are, the sequel concerns the treatment of what it means.
In the sequel: “Elphaba (Cynthia erivo), now demonized as the evil witch of the West, lives in exile, hidden within the Forest Ozione while continuing his struggle for the freedom of the silenced animals of Oz and desperately trying to expose the truth he knows of the magician (Jeff Goldblum).
“In the meantime, Glinda has become the glamorous symbol of goodness for everything Oz, who lives at the Palazzo di Emerald City and crogsiola in the advantages of fame and popularity. Under the education of Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh), Glinda is lined up to act as an effervescent comfort for Oz, reassuring the masses that everything is well below the rule of the magician.
“While the celebrity of Glinda expands and prepares to marry Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) In a spectacular ozian marriage, it is persecuted by its separation from Elphaba. He tries to broker a conciliation between Elphaba and The Wizard, but those efforts will fail, leading Elphaba and glinda only more separate.
“The outbuilding shocks will transform BOQ (Ethan Slater) and Fiyero forever, and threatens the security of Elphaba’s sister, Nessarose (Marissa Bode), when a Kansas girl crashes into all their lives.
“While an angry crowd rises against the evil witch, Glinda and Elphaba will have to meet one last time. With their singular friendship now the fulcrum of their future, they will really have to see us, with honesty and empathy, if they want to change themselves and all the good, forever.”
In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Chu spoke of what fans can expect from Wicked forever. “I can’t believe we are here. It’s crazy for me. The beautiful thing about the film two is that it is so different from that of the film that we don’t seem to be talking about what you’ve just seen. It’s the new chapter.”
The school days in Shiz ended. Now, Elphaba (Cynthia erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) They are on opposite sides, each having made choices that have real consequences.
“Our heart was broken when Glinda cannot make the choice that we want you to be so serious at the end of the film one,” Chu explained, “and he feels authorizing in Elphaba flying away from the company. In the film two, we can see the consequences of those choices. The temperature has expired.”
Chu spoke of the pressure on its cast to deliver every emotional beat. “As for the casting, we had to have people able to manage both sides of Galinda, both sides of Elphaba,” he said. “Can you make the fun version of these characters, but can you go to the next level? Can you land on the plane? This plane is big and the world is great.”
There is clearly a lot in this follow-up, but Chu seems to welcome the challenge. “I think we have always had the very high bar for us,” he admitted. “Thank God, because the alternative universe was not fun in which to live. I am happy to be in this multiverse.”
Evil forever It seems that he is taking everything that worked in the first film and breeding the stakes emotionally, musically and visually. It is not just about being changed for the better, it is what costs that change.
Wicked for good will arrive in cinemas on November 21st.
