Marvel Studios has just concluded some recent tests of tests for The Fantastic Four: First StepsAnd it seems that they are taking Marvel’s first family in a new and interesting new direction, which leans on disturbing vibrations and horror cosmic.
According to a new report by Murphy’s Multiverse, this new interpretation of Fantastic Four It is described as a “simple” comic film, but this does not mean that it plays safe.
A participant of a first test projection said the film has a “corner of cosmic horror” which seems very “Lovecraftiano”, especially when it comes to Galactus.

Considering how it can be difficult to adapt to Galactus, this seems that Marvel could finally have broken the code by going all-in on the existential terror that brings with it.
But it’s not all brilliant praise. Some spectators were not enthusiastic about how the characters were managed, in particular Reed Richards and Ben Grimm. Feedback from screening mentions a “lack of development of the character”, and there are specific criticisms on how Reed’s powers are shown, as well as it is used in history.
Having said that, tests of the tests often reflect a film still in progress, there is time to make things before the July release. But is a retro-trafficking style combined with cosmic horror? I like the sound of that!
