There was a point where DC fans spent that Jeffrey Dean Morgan One day he would play Flashpoint Batman, and it turns out, it was almost successful! Morgan officially confirmed that he was in line to play the brutal version of The Dark Knight of the DCEU.
In Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Zack Snyder He kicked off with the murders Wayne in Crime Alley and Morgan played Thomas Wayne e Lauren Cohan Play Martha. Don’t throw these two die and you never see them again.
Fans immediately started mirroring on flashpoints and alternative timing. Thomas as Batman. Martha as Joker. The pieces were all there.
In a new interview that promotes The Walking Dead: Dead CityMorgan confirmed what many had been suspected for some time:
“Honestly, Zack would have made more films, and I think there was a time when Flashpoint Batman would have seen these two characters in a much bigger role. And this was part of the world of Zack of all this, and then I never had the opportunity to do it, unfortunately.”
Snyder had a wider vision and Flashpoint Batman was part of it. But like so many things in the constant evolution sands of the DCEU, that vision has never materialized. Snyder moved away and the projects he was developing moved away.
The flash The project was delivered to a rotating door of directors and writers. What we obtained in the end was a multiverse mashup that leaned on nostalgia, with Michael Keaton Returning as Batman and a blur of CGI cameo.
Morgan’s co-protagonist Lauren Cohan He has not weighed during the interview, but it has been said for some time that if Morgan’s Thomas became Batman, Cohan’s Martha would become a Joker twisted by pain. This was such a wild version of Batman’s story.
This is now one of those “What IFS” DCs who will punish the fans of the DCEU a little more, knowing how close we were something potentially wild and different.
