There have been many Carrie adaptations over the years and actor Matthew Lillard says the next version of the director’s series Mike Flanagan (The tormenting of Hill House, Doctor Sleep) is preparing to be something different.
Lillard has recently joined the cast of Flanagan reinvented Carrie Series for Amazon MGM Studios, and in an interview with Comicbook, she shared her excitement on where this version is directed and how Flanagan is guiding it in a very current territory.
Flanagan is not just updating the setting, he is also reciprocating history and even Stephen King It is on board with it. Lillard said:
“Well, first of all, Mike Flanagan, I think, a brilliant director, a period. Working with him on Chuck’s life was like a dream, and then having the opportunity to do it, I am very honored to be in his world. So, he called, I said yes.”
That creative trust is clearly mutual. Flanagan launched Lillard on a new concept for CarrieOne who reflects the world in which we live now. Lillard continued:
“The exciting thing for me here is that he has created an idea based on what we are experiencing at this moment in the world and shared him with Stephen King, and then Stephen King was like” Oh, it’s a great idea. “
So, it’s Stephen King’s first book, he has gone through all these iterations. I think the exciting thing here is that Mike has found a way to make it relevant right now, and I think you talk about what we are experiencing everyone, and therefore I think this will make the difference. “
No detail of the plot still, but Lillard’s comments suggest that this is not just another dance dance soaked in blood. Flanagan is known for his emotionally rich and psychologically horror, and Lillard makes him seem that the series will be more a cultural reflection than a simple reconstruction.
The 1974 novel tells the story of Carrie White, a shy girl with telecinetic powers, who deals with relentless bullying at school and the psychological torment of her religiously fanatic mother.
Summer H. Howell it is destined to act as Carrie, with Siena Agudong interpreting his notorious classmate and antagonist, his Snell.
Flanagan Carrie It has been officially illuminated since last month and is currently in pre-production. It is not yet known when shooting start or when it could be previewed, but it will consist of eight episodes.
