Stage and screen actor John Lithgow Hopes to conquer fans who are angry for his imminent casting Harry Potter HBO series, in which he will play Albus Dumbledore, principal of Hogwarts.
Many were surprised by the fact that it was chosen for a British actor, but as a Lithgow fan for decades, I have confidence that it was an excellent choice.
Lithgow hopes to have the opportunity to test himself, as he explained in a new interview with The One Show of the BBC. The two -time nominated for the Oscar admitted to being “very excited” and “very intimidated” by the role of the book series of Jk Rowling’s books, which had previously been played on the screen by Richard Harris, Michael Gambon and Jude Law.
Lithgow explained: “I will follow the great Michael Gambon. I’m not an Englishman, even if I played one on TV. I remember everyone that I played Winston Churchill on The crown And he did well.
“But yes, I mean, it’s a huge thrill. But I know there were many upset people that an American should be hired to play the final English magician. But I will do my best.”
In addition to the casting of Lithgow as Dumbledore in the next max series of the writer-showrunner Francesca Gardiner, the series will also recite Janet McTeer Like Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost Like Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon Like Quirinus Quirrell e Paul Whitehouse Like Argus Filch.
