Sam WitwerDarth Maul’s longtime voice, just revealed when the animated series recently announced Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord It takes place in the always expanded Star Wars Chronology, and it seems that we are going to a truly bleak territory.
Speaking with Collider a Star Wars Celebration, Witwer confirmed that the animated series resumes One year After the events of The clone wars. This means that it is set during the dark consequences of order 66, while the Empire shakes its grip and the galaxy spirals in fear and confusion.
“This is a year later The clone warsWitwer explained. “You have a situation in which everyone was destroyed by clones and the organization of Maul has not made that pressure much. He still has a group with him, but it is not as it was, and therefore it was devastating that way.
“Everyone is very afraid. Everyone is very uncertain. But he is looking at an empire who knew he was coming, but he didn’t think it would be like this. He was in the plan of his master, but only in part.”
So, if you are trying to connect it to the temporal sequence, it is after episode II but even before episode III, even if you support the darkest corners of that time more than we have seen before.
Witwer continued to make fun of the tone of the show, suggesting that he is taking Star Wars narration in more intense territory.
“It is a little more dangerous in the way it seems, it sounds and feels. We are going a little more than what we have before.”
This is also the first time of Witwer who has been shooting Maul since then LEGO STAR WARS: terrfing tales In 2021, although his most famous performances come Star Wars: The Clone Wars AND Rebelwhere he brought layers of pain, revenge and tragic depth to the character.
The Loglione for the new series recites: “After the clone wars, Maul Plot to reconstruct his criminal union on a planet not touched by the Empire. In a new series set after the events of the last season of the clone wars, Maul gets up again to guide the factions of the indifferent”.
Witwer added: “It is getting a little dusting. We learn some different things about this character. It has some different traits that you would not necessarily think that it has a perfect meaning from what she passed.”
I liked the arch of the story that Lucasfilm has explored for Darth Maul and I am excited to see what this new animated series has in store.
