The show is produced by CBS Studios in association with Universal Television, a division of the Universal Studio group.
The CBS Studios, which owns the television rights of the 1995 film Paramount, had long sought the right opportunity to revive the IP. After purchasing the project around, he returned to Peacock, who previously had shown interest in developing a Dark series.
This new series marks the second big IP of the CBS to find a new life on a streaming platform, following Little House on the Prairiewhich is being developed in Netflix.
