James Gunn’S Superman It is still high after an extensive first glance has been released, and while the fans were pumped to finally see David CorenswetThe man of steel in action, Krypto is the character who stole the show.
In a conversation with Fandango, Corenswet opened on the dynamic between Superman and his canine companion who says, saying:
“Krypt needs Superman, Superman doesn’t need Krypto. Krypt has just been – it’s an adopted situation. Superman is taking care of this dog. He loves dogs, as most people do. But Krypt, like James [Gunn] He described, he is the worst dog in the world with superpowers.
“So he always destroys the fortress of solitude and the hunt for wildlife, just getting into trouble, never listening to. And although there is a great love and affection between Superman and Dog, it is honestly more problems than it is worth.”
According to Corenswet, Krypto is less a faithful companion and more a street disaster with the vision of the warmth, and it is exactly what makes it fun. It is unpredictable, powerful and just a little out of control, which is a refreshing passage from the usual heroic Trope for pets.
In the clip that a wounded Kal-El was released to return to the fortress of solitude and ask for help, but Krypt, clearly enthusiastic about seeing his boyfriend, jumps on him to play instead.
It is only after the Roughhous that the dog gets the reminder. It is a moment that is both captivating and painful and gives the tone how this unique link appears in the vision of Superman of Gunn.
While Krypt had a strong presence in comics and animation for years, this is his first live-action output and Gunn has hinted that the inspiration for the character came from his late dog, Ozu.
When previously he spoke of Superman’s relationship with Krypto, he said: “His relationship with Krypto is complicated. He is almost the best dog. There is much more in Krypto than you see in this trailer”.
Gunn continued: “It was a way to say that we are embracing all the mythology of Superman. These superhero films have taken characters and said” Okay, yes, it is Batman, but it is none of the other things. It’s Superman, but it’s none of the other things. “
“He lives in a world of superheroes. This is a world of alternative history in which there are superheroes, but it is also incredibly rooted. These are real people who have a real life, there are only metaumumans there. Superman has friends who are other superheroes.”
Gunn adds: “He has a flying dog, he has a giant fortress. He has many things we love from the comics and the mythology of Superman that we have not been able to see so much in a film and certainly has not been able to do it in a rooted way.”
Superman He will tell the story of the “Superman journey to reconcile his Kryptonian inheritance with his human education as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas.
“It is the incarnation of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as an old style.”
“It is set in a world very different from ours and far from the DCEU. The heroes have been in circulation for years and we will see how it has influenced the history of this world and has shaped the DCU.”
Superman He will launch the film part of DC Studios’ Gods and Monsters: Part 1. It is scheduled for a theatrical version on 11 July 2025.
