The Last of US Season 3 officially Greenlit of HBO

Even before fans have the opportunity to immerse themselves in season 2 of The last of usHBO is already blocking in season 3.

The news comes a few days before the presentation of the second season and this first renewal speaks of volumes of HBO’s trust in the series. Not that he is surprising. The last of us He went from being one of the most famous video games of all time to one of the most discussed shows on TV.

Season 1 covered the events of the original The last of us I play in its entirety, and while there is only another game to adapt to The last part of us IIThis does not mean that only one season remains.

That sequel is a much more tentular narrative and, from the beginning, it has been confirmed that the adaptation would have been stretched in several seasons. HBO is clearly wasting time to lay the foundations.

Showrunner Craig Mazin and standard co-creator Neil Druckmann issued a joint declaration on the news of season 3:

“The history of part II, like the first game, is more than one season of television. With great pride in our cast and in our troupe, HBO has kindly accepted to renew the show for a third season. We are excited to be able to continue the story of Ellie and Abby.”

There is still no release date for season 3, but a writer’s room is likely to be already at work or is about to be. Season 2 had a two -year gap from the first season, which was not entirely by choice. The writers of 2023 and Sag-Aftra Strikes led everything to a detention for about six months.

Also so, the casting was already underway in front of the strikes and, with the production on the track, the hope is that we will not have to wait as long for the next chapter.
