Disney live-action Snow White Landed in theaters last weekend and the numbers are not magical. The film obtained $ 43 million at national level in its opening weekend and has not yet reached $ 100 million all over the world.
The reviews were less than kind, but the controversy was produced for some time, especially as regards stars Rachel Zeglerwho found himself at the center of the recourse both for political declarations and for comments on the original classic of 1937.
Now, Jonah Plattson of Snow White producer Marc PlattHe entered the fray, adding fuel to the fire with a post on Instagram now canceled that blames Zegler for the submarine of the film.
The discussion derives from a recent report, which many have labeled a “hit piece” on Zegler. The report described in detail the way Disney presumably sent Platt to New York City last August to ask Zegler to remove a “free Palestine” comment from a post on social media that promotes the film.
After a commentator criticized Platt’s involvement, calling him “disturbing to die” for trying Zegler’s statements by police, Jonah Platt replied:
“Do you really want to do it? Yes, my father, the manufacturer of a huge piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly through the country to reproach his 20 -year -old employee for dragging his personal policy in the middle of the promotion of the film for which he signed a multimillionary contract to be paid and advertise for.”
Platt didn’t stop there. He continued to argue that Zegler’s actions directly damaged the success of the film:
“This is called the responsibility and responsibility of the adults. And his actions have clearly damaged the box office of the film. Freedom of speech does not mean that you are allowed to tell you what you want in your private work without repercussions.
“Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and diverted the conversation for his immature desires at the risk of all colleagues and crew and blue -collar workers who depend on that film to be successful. Narcissism is not something to encourage or encourage.”
His comments, it is not surprising, aroused a heated debate. Some agree with his opinion, claiming that the actors should maintain the personal policy separated from their promotional duties, while others see his observations as an unjust impetus explorer of a young actress in a film that had many challenges beyond her main star.
Starting now, neither Disney nor the representatives of Jonah or Marc Platt have released further statements. One thing is certain: the conversation around Snow White He is not dying soon.
