A24 and Peacock have officially launched Linda Cardellini (No good action, died for me) in the next Friday the prequel series of inspiration, Crystal Lake, which will expand on the long -lasting horror franchise.
Cardellini will play Jason’s infamous mother, Pamela Voorhees, who has given up on a singing career to grow a child with special needs. But things make a dark turning point when his son dies.
The show, which was given a direct series order in 2022, had an interesting road to production. Originally led by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal), the project since then has undergone a change in creative leadership, with Brad Caleb Kane (Welcome to Derry) Enter as a showrunner.
Kane is a long -standing fan of the franchise and has clarified that he is fully committed to honoring his inheritance. He said:
“From the moment I saw Jason Voorhees squeeze the eye bulb of a boy from his grip (in the glorious 3D!) At the tender age of 8 years, I knew that my creative path was destined to converge with the man behind the mask.”
He continued: “Nothing has defined my childhood more than growing in the gold era of the film Slasher, and nothing more than the genre of Friday 13th. I could not be more enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute with a chapter to this iconic franchise, in particular with fearless partners such as Peacock and A24. “
The series is described as a “expanded prequel” to the original Friday 13th Film, exploring both the story of Jason and Pamela Voorhees.
Cardellini is an excellent choice for the role of Pamela and will take on the role made iconic by Betsy Palmer In the 1980 classic, a character with a tragic past that undertakes a van Vendicist and bloody, who has set the entire franchise in motion.
