Netflix is launching the dice on one of its biggest fantasy projectsForgotten kingdomsa live-action Dungeons & Dragons series.
The project is guided by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Deadpool and Wolverine), Writer-Showrunner Drew Crevello (Wecrashed) and Hasbro Entertainment.
This is a huge step in bringing the legendary table role -playing game (TTRPG) on the small screen.
As the title suggests, the next series will be set Forgotten kingdomsthe setting of the most iconic campaign in Dungeons & Dragons universe. For decades, this world has hosted some of the most loved characters in the franchise and electrifying adventures.
There is a strong creative team connected to this project and I am excited to see how it appears. I liked the live movie that was made, but I’m curious to see how this new version of the Fantasy franchise will end.
Drew Crevello wrote the pilot episode and will act as a showrunner, while Levy and Dan Levine will be the executive products through the production company of Levy, 21 rpm. With the involvement of Levy, in particular his work on Stranger thingswho appeared prominently Dungeons & Dragons Elements, this project has the potential to capture the same sense of nostalgia and adventure.
