Hbo’s The penguin The series threw Gotham’s lower criminals into the chaos with Carmine Falcone’s family swept away, Crown Point is leveling by an explosion and Oz Cobb has made his way to the top through his determination and brutality. Still, there is an evident absence in this city full of crime: Batman.
While all this happens, Robert PattinsonDark Knight is not found anywhere in the series, with the bats signal that only makes a short appearance in the closing moments.
But second The penguin showrunner Lauren LefrancThere is a good reason for this. Speaking with Empire Magazine, Lefranc explained why Batman did not go up.
“What Matt reiterated me at the beginning is that he is a big city and Batman cannot be everywhere. He doesn’t have a spidey feeling that Formicola.”
This is a right point since Batman is not omnipresent and Gotham is not exactly small. But does this mean that it is unaware of everything that happens around him? No.
Lefranc has ensured fans that events take place The penguin will have lasting consequences. He said:
“But only because we don’t see Batman in our show does not mean that it is not aware or indifferent. The events that took place in Gotham City and the repercussions that derive from it will bring to the next film.”
Matt Reevesdirector of The BatmanHe had previously revealed that a cameo was considered but in the end demolished. Last November, he provided a more detailed explanation for the absence of Bruce Wayne.
“This was a moment of great turbulence in the city, it is literally the week after what happened. Much of the city is desperate, so the police cannot arrive everywhere, there is a crime everywhere, it is a very, very, very dangerous.”
Basically, Batman is just stretched. Gotham is still recovering from the enigù flood and the streets crawl with criminals. Reeves Added:
“[Batman’s] Outside trying to face the consequences of everything that has happened, that to a certain extent is blamed. “
So, while Oz and Sofia Falcone are doing each other, Batman had his hands full elsewhere. It is a solid justification, although some fans may still find it difficult to believe that Batman does not intervene at some point.
Anyway, The penguin is preparing the stage for The Batman: Part IIAnd it seems that the consequences of the bloody ascent to the power of Oz become rippled in the next chapter of Reeves’ Gotham.
