The WOLF MAN featurette offers details on the werewolf’s “slow and methodical” transformation

Universal Pictures has released a new featurette for Blumhouse’s upcoming horror film The Wolf Manand focuses on the details behind the werewolf’s nightmarish transformation.

I already had the opportunity to watch the movie and thought it was amazing! It felt like an old school horror movie and I thought it was a unique and interesting way to handle the werewolf franchise.

I especially like the way the transformation happened in the story. The director, Leigh Whannellhe explains that he wanted it to be more of an illness. Actor Christopher Abbotthe described it as “slow and methodical.”

Whannell had previously spoken about the creature’s design, which is very different from the original Wolfman design, saying: “With the look of Wolf Man, I knew I wanted to do something very different. I was really inspired by films like John Carpenter’s The thing and that of David Cronenberg The Moscow.”

The film centers on Blake, a husband and father from San Francisco, “who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his father disappears and is presumed dead.

“With his marriage to his powerful wife, Charlotte (Giulia Garner; Ozark, Inventing Anna), worn out, Blake convinces Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth; Hullraisers, Coma).

“But as the family approaches the farm in the dead of night, they are attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, they barricade themselves inside the house as the creature prowls the perimeter.

“As the night wears on, however, Blake begins to act strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror inside their home is deadlier than the danger outside.”

The film was written by Whannell and Corbett Tuck as well as Lauren Schuker Blum AND Rebecca Angelothe latter duo had already written the dramatic comedy, Stupid money.

The film hits theaters this weekend!
